ATOMIC:A Gen X Memoir of Fractured Family and Altered StateS (working title)
set in rural Maine and NYC, Atomic is a gen x ode to the Shifting mental superpowers that both protected and broke us in the unwoke landscape of the pre-millenium. T. Kira Madden's Long Live the tribe of fatherless girls meets Mikel Jollett's Hollywood Park in this father-daughter coming of age story characterized by the cold war, neurodivergence, and punk rock. Atomic renders an anxious child, a quantum beauty seeker, and a quirky misfit just trying to get along in the same body. Though queer, this is not a coming-out story but a lyrical exploration of family and self, and bridging the gap between the two, especially when divorce and PTSD rewrite how family members are able to love each other.
